Our Alex TriVantage® technology is the most sophisticated technology in removing brown spots, pigmented lesions and tattoos.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
The Alex TriVantage® emits focused light energy via an alexandrite crystal. As the light passes through the alexandrite crystal, a beam of light 755 nm long is produced. This light selectively targets pigmented areas with light, causing them to break up and fade away. The Alex TriVantage® laser reduces the appearance of brown spots from sun damage as well as tattoos. Because it is designed to target only the pigmentation, any surrounding skin is not affected during the laser procedure. The Alex TriVantage® is noninvasive and safe, which maximizes results and reduces discomfort and scarring.
How many treatments do I need?
Results can often be seen with just one Alex TriVantage® laser treatment for smaller brown spots. Larger brown spots may require a series of treatments for optimal results. Once treated and healed, these spots do not return. However, if you are prone to acquiring brown spots, new ones may form. To reduce the appearance of new spots, it is essential to avoid sun exposure and always wear sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) and protective clothing when you spend time in the sun. Treatment plans differ for guests seeking to reduce the appearance of brown spots versus tattoos.
What are the benefits?
Permanent removal of brown spots, pigmented lesions and tattoos.
Does the treatment hurt?
Comfort levels vary by guest. Prior to your treatment a topical anesthetic cream is applied which helps minimize any discomfort from the treatment. The impact of the energy from the laser’s powerful pulse of light has been described as a hot snap to the skin by a thin rubber band accompanied by a bright light, and may experience mild discomfort.
Will I notice the difference right away?
No, not instantly.
What can I expect after treatment?
The laser treatment may create a superficial burn wound. There is immediate whitening of the treated area, which lasts for several minutes. Guests may then develop blisters, crusts or scabs within 24-72 hours, which may last for 1-2 weeks. Some patients may experience bruising or swelling. The treated area may be pink or pale after the scab separates. It’s never recommended to pick at the scab; this will help prevent hypopigmentation of the skin. After healing, the treated area will gradually and continually fade. Noticeably results will show once the treated area is completely healed.
What is the recovery time?
There is no real downtime associated with Alex TriVantage® laser treatment. Redness, mild swelling and itching immediately after the procedure may occur and last a few days after treatment. In most cases, you will be able to continue your day as normal. For tattoos and larger dark spots, we will apply a bandage to the area. The treated areas will eventually scab over. When the scab falls off, the area underneath will be red or pink, and sensitive for up to a week. In order to avoid unintended scarring, it is essential not to pick at the scab or wash the area too vigorously. Complete healing is usually seen within 4-6 weeks, but can vary (shorter or longer) based on each individual.
