Frequently Asked Questions
What is dermal filler?
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring substance in the human body) produced from synthetic or natural materials. They are injected into the skin (dermis) to plump up and augment soft tissue.
How long does dermal filler last?
Typically, skin shows the positive effects of dermal fillers for 8-12 months, although it may vary depending on the person. Thanks to the natural hyaluronic acids within your body, the acids within the fillers dissolve over time on their own.
What are the benefits?
Dermal fillers are an easy way to look more youthful and enhance your looks without sacrificing muscle movement and facial expression. Results can be seen instantly, with just one treatment.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the human body, helping hydration and adding volume to skin. It is constantly being broken down by our body every day or two, and has to be replaced. Over time, our ability to replace hyaluronic acid diminishes—along with the acid’s plumping and moisturizing effects. Because of this, we use hyaluronic acid for aesthetic treatments, but it also serves many other purposes, such as for injections into arthritic joints (to aid movement) and eye surgery.
Does the treatment hurt?
Although we customize treatment for each guest, pain relief is generally not necessary. Most experience mild discomfort during the treatment, which can be remedied with a local anesthetic cream, if desired.
Will I notice the difference right away?
Absolutely—results appear immediately.
Are there side effects?
There are no major side effects, although mild swelling, redness, and bruising may appear in some guests. No recovery time needed.
Is it risky?
Since there are no major side effects or potential for allergic reactions, the procedure is not risky.
What if I have skin allergies?
Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the human body, you don’t need to worry about having an allergic reaction, and an allergy test is not required before the procedure.
How are dermal fillers different from Botox?
Dermal fillers work to plump up skin and increase volume in the entire face to remove lines and wrinkles. Botox, on the other hand, minimizes lines by restricting the muscle movement that results in wrinkles.
Where can I receive my treatment?
You can receive dermal fillers through a procedure at any one of our locations in Fresno, Visalia, and San Luis Obispo.
