Frequently Asked Questions

How does this treatment work?

All 3 treatments (Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin®) work by temporarily decreasing the intensity of muscular contractions in concentrated areas of the face, smoothing out targeted areas. The treatment is applied through several tiny injections into the desired muscles.

What is a neurotoxin?

A neurotoxin is a class of chemical agents that produce effects by communicating chemical signals between neurons. The specific neurotoxin within the active ingredient, botulinum toxin, is a protein created by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is also commonly used for many other medical and research purposes.

Does the treatment hurt?

Although pain varies from guest to guest, discomfort associated with the treatment is limited only to the needle pricks at injection points.

How quickly will I notice a cosmetic difference?

Smoothing of creases and wrinkles can be seen as early as 3 days after the treatment, and will continue to improve for 2 weeks.

How long do the effects of a neurotoxin treatment last?

Though results vary from person to person, one can expect the average single treatment to provide 3 to 4 months of aesthetic enhancement. As the temporary effect fades and muscles regain original movement, the process can be repeated to preserve your desired appearance.

Is it safe?

The use of botulinum toxin is considered safe within clinical settings. Rare side-effects include headache or momentary eyelid sag.

Are there any side effects?

There are no major side effects of this treatment, however rare side-effects include headache or momentary eyelid sag.

Thankfully, there are no mandated restrictions to normal life post-treatment aside from avoiding exercise for the initial few hours. Patients commonly attend treatment during a lunch break, or during another short break of their daily schedules and return to normal life after.
