Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
The Alex TriVantage® uses three wavelength lasers to emit intense pulses of light, which break the tattoo ink down into microscopic particles. After the ink breaks down, your body’s lymphatic system (a natural filter) absorbs the leftover particles. Because of this, the tattoo gradually loses its luster, beginning to fade and disappear entirely after enough treatments. And, since the Alex TriVantage® only targets tattoo ink, it leaves surrounding skin untouched, minimizing potential pain and scarring while maximizing results.
How many treatments do I need?
The number of treatments that you need will be wholly dependent on the size and coloration of your tattoo. However, your tattoo may disappear after just 2 to 4 visits—though you might need to book more sessions to ensure best results.
What are the benefits?
This procedure is your ticket to permanently ink-free skin, if that is your goal. It is also significantly less time-consuming than traditional tattoo removal treatments, since it uses three wavelength lasers, and can also remove all colors at once.
Does the treatment hurt?
The pain of tattoo removal varies from guest to guest. We use a topical, local anesthetic cream in the area or inject lidocaine to help alleviate any discomfort. The energy from the laser’s powerful light pulse has been likened to a hot, snapping rubber band on your skin.
Can Tattoo Removal cause damage to the treated area?
Typically, damage is minimal, particularly since the three wavelength lasers specifically target ink rather than skin. Mild texture changes and irregular pigmentation might surface after your treatment, but these changes typically don’t last more than a few months, and are rarely permanent.
Will I notice the difference right away?
There will not be an immediate difference, however the tattoo will begin to fade after you finish recovering from any potential scabs, crusts, blisters, or bruising (usually around 2 weeks).
What can I expect after treatment?
The intense light from the lasers may cause a superficial burn wound, and a whitening of the skin, lasting for several minutes. Some guests may develop blisters, scabs, or crusts (within 1 to 3 days of the procedure) lasting up to 1 to 2 weeks. In these cases, remember to never pick your scab—doing so might prevent hypopigmentation of your skin. It is also possible to develop bruising or swelling. As you’re recovering, the treated area will gradually fade, with noticeable results appearing after completely healing.
What is the recovery time?
Typically, it takes 4 to 6 weeks to completely heal from this procedure. However, recovery time varies from guest to guest (shorter or longer).
Where can I receive my treatment?
You can get your tattoos removed at any one of our locations in Fresno, Visalia, and San Luis Obispo.
