Frequently Asked Questions
How does V-Beam work?
The V-Beam Perfecta utilizes a PDL to emit intense yet gentle light bursts, targeting blood vessels within specific areas of skin. The laser slowly destroys the vessels as your skin absorbs the light, allowing your body to reabsorb the targeted blood vessels. Using dynamic cooling, the V-Beam protects the top layer of your skin to decrease discomfort.
What is a Pulse Dye Laser (PDL)?
PDLs concentrate intense beams of light and target your skin’s blood vessels. Converting the light into heat, the PDL slowly destroys the vessel yet leaves surrounding skin undamaged.
What can I expect during treatment?
Before undergoing treatment, we will clean the skin of the targeted area and give you protective eyewear. During the laser treatment, you will feel a warm or tingling sensation on your skin, which will be simultaneously counteracted by the dynamic cooling device as it emits cool air onto the treated area before each laser pulse. Through this, we protect your comfort during the process. The amount of time necessary for this procedure varies from guest to guest, and is highly dependent on the size of the area you’d like treated.
How many treatments do I need?
The optimal number of treatments depends on your aesthetic goals, since it will be determined by the size of the area. Typically, 1 to 3 treatments are necessary. For some guests, the improvements from this procedure are permanent.
Does the treatment hurt?
Each guest experiences differing levels of comfort, although, typically, the treatment isn’t painful, thanks to our dynamic cooling device.
Will I notice the difference right away?
Results will not be immediately apparent, particularly as your skin’s pigmentation returns to normal within 1 to 2 weeks. Once you’ve fully recovered, the results from V-Beam Perfecta become much more noticeable, typically within 6 to 8 weeks. Other potential benefits, such as skin firming and tightening, may take a little longer to surface as collagen production is kicked back into gear.
What can I expect after treatment?
Right after the procedure, you might notice some redness or minor swelling in the targeted area. Usually, this goes away within a few hours. Sometimes, a more long-term side effect appears: purpura. This red or purple bruise caused by the laser will typically disappear within 3 to 5 days of your treatment.
Are there any special precautions I should take before or after treatment?
Using ice packs or cold compresses on the treated area for 1 to 2 days after your treatment helps minimize potential side effects such as swelling, bruising, or general discomfort. Staying upright when you’re awake and sleeping with an extra pillow will also help minimize swelling. During the healing phase, you should use gentle cleansers and moisturizers to truly pamper your skin. If possible, avoid scrubs or irritating creams.
We recommend that you avoid sun exposure before the procedure and for 6 weeks afterwards, to help minimize side effects. Using sunscreen (of at least 30 SPF) will help to greatly reduce the risk of brown pigmentation. If this does occur, rest assured that it will go away—it might just take a few months.
If you received your treatment to remove redness or broken capillaries, you should avoid excessive exercise or flushing triggers in the first 2 weeks after your treatment.
Where can I receive my treatment?
You can undergo V-Beam treatment at any one of our locations in Fresno, Visalia, and San Luis Obispo.
