Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
When you receive a wax at our facility, your aesthetician will spread wax over the desired area and then apply cloth strips over the wax. At this point, to remove the follicle by the root, your cosmetician pulls the wax off, in quick, pointed strokes, in the opposite direction of hair growth.
What are the benefits?
While you can certainly remove hair with a razor, only waxing gives you long-term, hair-free, and supple skin. When you get a wax, your hair takes longer to grow back, ensuring you don’t get the dreaded stubble like you would with a razor. At the same time, it causes your hair to grow back more slowly, less dense, and finer—a winning combination. However, if your goal is permanent, soft, hair-free skin, you should consider a laser treatment instead.
How many treatments do I need?
The frequency with which you should get a wax is highly dependent on your personal aesthetic goals. Typically, we recommend getting waxed roughly every 3 to 4 weeks, since the hair will then be long enough for the wax to grip (about one quarter of an inch), but not so long that it becomes painful to remove. For underarms and facial services (such as brows), however, receiving a wax every 2 weeks is optimal.
Are there any side effects?
After receiving your wax, your skin may appear a little blotchy due to redness and irritation, however this will clear up within a few hours or by the next day at the latest. To minimize irritation, be sure to avoid activities that will generate friction over the treated area (including itching), hot baths, sun exposure, and applying Neosporin over the treated area. Since the pores of your freshly waxed skin will be much more open, be sure to keep it clean and nourished.
Does it hurt?
Since waxing involves removing hairs by their roots, discomfort will be felt. The level of pain felt varies from guest to guest, depending on their personal pain threshold and the number of times they’ve been waxed in the past. Less pain is felt amongst our veteran waxers since, with each wax, your hair becomes less dense and finer.
Where can I receive my treatment?
You can get waxed at our Visalia or San Luis Obispo locations.
