Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that yields maximum results. Also known as Collagen Induction Thereapy, microneedling improves a variety of skin conditions—such as wrinkles, hyper pigmentation, acne scars, strech marks, and more—by stimulating collagen formation, a natural part of your skin’s processes. It is also the perfect treatment for all skin types, making it a truly versatile option as it tightens, lifts, and rejuvenates your skin.

Using fine needles, we puncture the skin ever so slightly. Your aesthetic goals determine the depth that we puncture to: for more dramatic results (to remove acne scars, for example), we will puncture your skin a little bit deeper. By doing this, we trigger your body’s natural response to produce new collagen and elastin as your skin fills these microscopic injuries. This treatment

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the ideal patient?

Treatment with the Exceed system is customizable and minimally invasive, suitable for healthy men and women to treat the appearance of facial wrinkles and facial acne scars.  In only 4 treatments, 90% of patients saw an improvement in facial wrinkles and 86% of patients showed significant improvement in their facial acne scars.  The treatment is well tolerated with minimal pain, discomfort or downtime, all in under an hour.

What must I do to prepare for treatment?

Patients that are undergoing treatment with the Exceed system should be sure to: discontinue anticoagulant therapy, Aspirin or high dose nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) for 14 days prior to treatment.  If you have a history of cold sores, please inform your Provider as you may need to be pretreated with an antiviral medication.  Discontinue topical retinoids or other skin irritants for a minimum of 3-5 days prior to treatment.  Avoid prolonged sun exposure and use SPF 30.

What can I expect after treatment?

Immediately post treatment, the localized pin-point bleeding should subside within 5-10 minutes of treatment.  Pain or discomfort may occur with gradual cessation following the treatment.  Transient mild to moderate erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) can last for up to 6 days.  Other inflammatory responses such as itching, warming, flaking or peeling can occur and will typically subsides within 8 days of treatment.

How does it work?

When you receive this treatment, a microneedling device moves over your skin, with small needles slightly piercing your skin, causing you to feel vibrations. Your aesthetic goals determine the depth that we will puncture to—improving the appearance of acne scars, for example, requires longer needles, while light wrinkles necessitate small needles. As soon as the microneedling is over, our team works to maximise your results through two methods: 1) applying a peptide or collagen mask and a growth factor, 2) brightening or anti-aging serum that drives the products more deeply into your skin, all to increase your natural stimulation of collagen growth.

How many treatments do I need?

Although treatment will be tailored to the needs of each guest, we recommend that most guests receive 3 treatments total, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Those with very light skin damage might only need one treatment annually to achieve their aesthetic goals. However, for guests with deep wrinkles or scars, we recommend 6 to 8 treatments (every 4 to 6 weeks) to start, and then one annually to ensure their skin remains healthy and beautiful.

What are the benefits?

Microneedling produces a variety of benefits, by: reducing wrinkles, acne/surgical scars, crepey skin, stretch marks, hyper pigmentation, improving texture and tone, and tightening and lifting the skin. Through this, years of sun damage are reversed.

Does the treatment hurt?

Before your microneedling treatment, we apply a topical anesthetic cream to minimize pain. However, comfort levels vary by guest, since the length of the needles is determined by each guest’s aesthetic goals.

Will I notice the difference right away?

After a few days, your skin will begin to glow from the added blow flow and collagen production. Over time, your skin will continue to improve: for the next few months, your skin’s texture becomes more desirable, your fine lines melt, and pore size reduces.

What is recovery like? How long is the downtime?

Right after the treatment, your skin will be sensitive to heat and look like you have a sunburn. Some guests experience mild swelling and potential bruising around their eyes, since the tissue is so delicate. Recovery can take up to 48 hours, with most guests’ skin returning to normal within 24 hours. The depth of your treatment and your skin’s sensitivity both influence how long your face will remain flushed.

Are there any side effects?

Microneedling has no reported side effects.

What products should I avoid after treatment?

For the first few days after treatment, you should avoid products that block your pores, along with makeup or chemical peels. By doing so, your skin will have the chance to heal completely with fewer issues. Sun exposure is also not recommended for several days after treatment.

Where can I receive my treatment?

You can receive microneedling through a procedure at our locations in Visalia or Fresno.
